Akbar The Bourne Ultimatum August 13th, 2007
I have waited this movie for a long time. You can say this is the most anticipated movie in 2007. So I watched it in the first day release in Indonesia, that is August 10th.
This movie is awesome. Full packed with action stuff from the beginning to the end. There is a fighting scene one-to-one. Bourne fighted with Dash. Dash was in the same level with Bourne. Their movement was so fast. I can’t follow it 100%. Off course, Bourne won. There is a car chasing scene, motorcycle chasing scene, Bourne jumping from the top of the building to top of another building, entrancing the building with full security, Bourne beat all the agents guy (and Marocco policemen) by empty hand. Off course this movie has been packed with thriller too when Bourne try to sneak from spying system of CIA to meet his information source.
This movie is serious all the time. There is no joke like in Die Hard 4 movie. There is no love or sex scene. Action all the time. There is hottie off course. Yeah, Bourne’s girl was dead in the second of trilogy (The Bourne Supremacy). But this hottie is hotter than Bourne’s girl. In this movie her name is Nikki Parsson. I like her more than Bourne’s girl. She appeared in second Bourne movie. In this third movie, she is involved accidentally with Bourne. She helped Bourne to find the executor who will murder Bourne’s source of information. Because of that, Nikki was targeted by executor. Bourne saved her (beautiful, huh?!!). But after that, there was nothing between them. I understand. Bourne just lost her girl friend. If I were not mistaken, it was in previous week. It is not appropriate to do some romantic scene (especially having sex) when your girl friend was murdered a week ago. But from the conversation between Nikki and Bourne, it look like they have some kind of relationship back when Bourne is in program. So maybe in year later after Bourne found out who he was, Bourne find Nikki. And they live happily ever after.
Oh yeah, it is Julia Stiles who acts as Nikki.
So basically The Bourne Ultimatum is a heavy action packed movie. Director Paul Greengrass did a good job.
Eragon December 21st, 2006
Ehm, this movie is more like family movie than fantasy movie. It does not inspire me just like LOTR does. I think Narnia is better. The story is about dragon and teenager. The teenager off course is Eragon. Eragon annoys me very much because he keeps complaining why he is chosen to be dragon rider. “Why me?” Eragon in this movie is so hero because he can use magic without learning. Then Brom…. Brom is Eragon guru. Well, I don’t have complain for him. He does his job well. He has charisma.
The movie is so childish. The big bozz, Galbatorix does not have charisma just like Sauron does. But maybe because this movie is made for all age. You know, the all age rated movie does not entertain the adult like me so well.
The Prestige November 24th, 2006
For the first 20 minutes, I thought it is a boring melancholic drama. Then…. it got interesting. The story is about two men rivalry for getting famous position in magic show world. The first one is Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman). He has a wife, who is dead because of accidental drowning because his wife can not untie the tie on her hand in magic show. The second one is Alfred Borden (Christian Bale), who tied Robert Angier’s wife. Robert blamed Alfred for his wife death. After that, they try to beat each other with very very bad way. Alfred had a show. He can catch the bullet from gun. Robert is in disguise as ordinary audience. So he become volunteer to shoot the gun to Alfred. But Robert knew the trick so he put something into the gun which neutralize the magic of Alfred. The Alfred assistant push Robert so the ‘thing’ that Robert put into the gun did not kill Alfred but instead make his finger broke. Then Alfred revenge on Robert show.
The rivalry got hotter after that. Both men has dedication, ambition and commitment for magic show world even it mean to sacrifice finger (in Borden case). Robert killed ‘him self’ every time in his show. They both crazy, I think. But the movie is really good. I just can’t imagine the ending would be like that.
Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath Of The Dragon God October 10th, 2006
It’s sucks. It is a bad fantasy film. I never play dungeon and dragons game. But I like the cleric, wizard, dragon world. When I play the pc game, I always (almost) play that kind of game. So I have high hope with this movie. The movie disappointed me. It just so plain ordinary movie. The dialogue is so death boring. But it entertained me a little.
The movie start with a boring man who was a hero. Nowdays, he is a lord in something like town. He has a ambisious and beatiful sorcerer wife. Then they found out that the seal that hold the dragon is stolen. The dragon will wake up after the full moon. So the town (or castle) send this boring man to rescue the seal. This man, Berek, choose some people to form a party. The party contains Berek (a knight), a female barbarian, a male rouge, a male priest, a female elf who has magic. They go to the place where they can teleport to the evil mage who stole the seal. They encounter monster, a mini dragon. And so on…..
When you brought a game into movie, you have to modify a lot so it can entertain people. You can’t just bring it up because a good game does not always make a good movie. Modify a lot. Make a good plot. Don’t bring game plot into movie.
But this movie burn a little bit of my imagination about dungeon and dragon world. Sometimes I imagine my self as knight or ranger in this world (Yeah, this is my favourite role in rpg game). But I wonder which is cooler? Adventuring alone or adventuring with party? I think adventuring with party is less cooler but is more interesting because you can talk. I am a social person. _
Snake On The Plane September 24th, 2006
Watch out! Samuel Jackson is back. He’s gonna catch u all, the bad guyz. Ok, this is entertaining one. It mada me scream suddenly when snake come out from bottom trying to attack lady. So the story is: one man in Hawaii was riding his motorbike to somewhere in forest. There he witnessed a murder by mafia. So he guared by FBI agent fly to LA. But mafia want the man die so he smuggled the box filled with many snakes to the plane. So in the plane there are many passengers who didn’t realize the plane filled with snakes. After time goes by, the snakes comes out from the box go to everywhere in the plane. The first attack happened in toilet where a man and a woman had sex. When they were screaming because snake attacked them, stewardess outside the toilet thought they are having good time in toilet. So the story went to climax, the snakes comes out from everywhere attacking everyone nearby. Some people died. Some people survived. They worked together to defend from snakes attack. Samuel Jackson was, of course, hero on the plane. He went to deep down in the bottom of the plane to make air circulation works by him self. After all, the plane did manage to land safely in LA.
I am satisfied with this movie. Samuel Jackson entertained a lot. There are some beatiful women in that movie. I like the one acted as stewardess who attracted to the man who witness the murder. Of course, there are a lot of interesting things in the movie. Imagine people from different backgrounds trapped in the plane with many snakes. Oh yeah, there is a python too that is very big. While the other snakes made people die by bitting, this python ate a man alive.
Break Up August 30th, 2006
Okay, this is a funny one. It does not make my stomach sick but I laughed all the movie. Vince Vaughn always be a funny guy. I remember he with Olsen struck my stomach with Wedding Crashers. Jeniffer Aniston? She was one of my favourite actress back when I am still in high school. It is nice to see her again after Friends. I know she played a couple of movies between Friends and The Break-Up. But I didn’t want to bother my self to watch.
So what is this about? It is about a couple lived in same condo, then break up because a small thing. Vince Vaughn come home then he was just lying there in front of tv, watching sports. Aniston complained that he just bought 3 lemons. How was she suppose to set up table with just 3 lemons. She wants 12 lemons. Vince doesn’t understand why this is so important. Then after dinning, Aniston asked Vince to help her to do the dishes. But Vince want to watch the sports first. Aniston got angry. Then so on…. Fight begin.
What impress me that what John Gray said in Men are from Mars, Women from Venus is relevant in this story. The typical fight between men and women is described very well in this movie.
